I enjoyed reading this book very much! Learning about the country of Congo and its people, their daily lives, the culture and their history, has been a very interesting insight and journey. Living in a Western country, I clearly see how much we have in comparison, so much more wealth and education, safety and security, food & clothing, so much more of everything. It was touching to read about the children and their lack of care and how much needs to be done in helping their children to have a future to look forward to. Wolfgang and Lenka and their whole Team are doing an excellent work in helping to bring new hope to the people, to teach and train them to plant and to care for the land, to educate their children, to bring medical help when it is needed. I am so impressed and happy to read that two schools have been built for the local people and that the children are given the opportunity for a good education.

This is a very important book to read at this time in history as the world is going through so many changes. It will challenge us to do better, to take better care of each other and to step out to change our part of the world. It will also teach us how to help the world to be a better place for us all and especially for our future, the children. The challenge is, how can we do it, where do we start? The book will share and suggest lots of good advice for us personally and for everybody as the caretakers of this world. We have a lot to look forward to, with the hope of a brighter future for us all and for the people of Congo.

Faith and love are two great recurring themes in this book and I think who else would be better suited to talk about these topics than Wolfgang and Lenka, who have dedicated their whole lives to the service of others.

Wer sich für das Abenteuer Afrika interessiert und wissen möchte, was Menschen wie Wolfgang und Lenka dazu antreibt, ihr Lebenswerk einem Land wie dem Kongo zu widmen, dem möchte ich dieses Buch ans Herz legen. Ich habe viel über das Land und die Menschen dort gelernt und freute mich über die Lichtblicke, die Wolfgangs Erzählungen mir zwischen all den entmutigenden Nachrichten, die uns laufend von dem großen Kontinent Afrika erreichen, geboten haben. Glaube und Liebe sind zwei große wiederkehrende Themen in diesem Buch und ich finde, wer sonst wäre besser geeignet um über diese Themen zu sprechen als Wolfgang und Lenka das Ehepaar Schmidt, die ihr ganzes Leben in den Dienst von anderen gestellt haben.

For me, reading this book was like taking a trip to the Congo without even stepping outside my door. It also made me realize how blessed and fortunate I am in so many ways. I was asked to read this manuscript and offer suggestions to help improve it. Little did I know that it would drastically impact and improve me.

Für mich war die Lektüre dieses Buches wie eine Reise in den Kongo, ohne auch nur einen Schritt vor die Tür zu setzen. Es machte mir auch klar, wie gesegnet und privilegiert ich in so vielerlei Hinsicht bin. Ich wurde gebeten, dieses Manuskript zu lesen und Vorschläge zu seiner Verbesserung zu machen. Ich hatte keine Ahnung, wie stark es mich beeinflussen und bereichern würde.

Personally, I would recommend this book to people whose purpose in life is helping others. … After I finished reading the book, I felt like a big weight was lifted off me. Now I know that every little help counts.
